A simple spaghetti recipe for children, made with a homemade cheese sauce and mushrooms. If the little ones don't like mushrooms use their favourite veg instead; broccoli, little cubes of sweet potato or peas would work well. See method
Ingredients
- 100g spaghetti
- 10g butter
- 10g plain flour
- 250ml skimmed milk
- 50g lighter mature Cheddar, grated
- 1 tsp vegetable oil
- 100g mushrooms, sliced

If you haven't got spaghetti, try using linguine instead

- Meanwhile, make a roux by melting the butter in a saucepan over a medium heat, adding the flour and cooking for 1 min until it resembles a sandy consistency. Gradually whisk in the milk and cook for 5 mins, stirring occasionally, until thickened. Remove from the heat and stir through the Cheddar. Season with black pepper.
