Serve up a scary snack for Halloween with these fun, gross toasts. Made to look like bandaged mummies, these toast fingers are topped with cheese and tomato for a pizza-like flavour that the kids will love. They’re super-easy to make and ready in under 10 minutes. See method
Ingredients
- 4 slices white bread
- 4 tsp tomato purée
- 4 pitted green olives, sliced into rounds
- 100g Cheddar cheese
If you haven't got any white bread, try using brown instead

Method
- Preheat the grill to high. Meanwhile, toast the bread in a toaster until just golden.
- Trim the crusts off the sides of the toast (leaving the top and bottom crusts) and cut each slice into 3 long fingers. Place on a baking tray and spread each finger with the tomato purée, then add 2 olive slices for eyes.
- Cut the Cheddar into thin slices, about ½ cm thick. Lay each slice flat and slice lengthways into long thin strips, again about ½ cm thick. Trim the cheese sticks to the same width as the toast fingers and arrange across the toasts to look like bandages, overlapping diagonally down the toasts.
- Grill the toasts for 45 secs – 1 min until the cheese has just started to melt. Transfer to a plate and serve.
