This Jamaican meaty salad is bursting full of fresh flavours with exotic mangoes, chillies and lime. Filled with vivid colours this salad will brighten up your boring old meals. See method
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp oil
- 250g (8oz) thin cut beef sirloin, cut into thin strips
- 1 red pepper, cut into thin strips
- ½ green chilli, finely sliced
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp allspice
- 1 little gem lettuce, leaves separated
- 1 mango, cut into thin strips
For the yogurt
- 4 tbsp yogurt
- ½ lime, juiced
- 3 sprigs thyme, leaves only
If you don't have any limes, try a lemon instead

Method
- Heat the oil in a pan over a medium heat. Combine the steak, red pepper and chilli in a bowl, then add the cinnamon and allspice and mix well. Tip the steak and pepper mixture into the pan and cook for 5-7 minutes. Remove from the heat and leave to cool a little.
- Mix the yogurt, lime, thyme and a pinch of salt in a bowl. To serve, arrange the lettuce on a platter and top with the steak, peppers and mango, with the dressing on the side or drizzled over the salad.
