Refreshing and zingy, it’s no wonder the margarita is such a classic summer cocktail, perfect for any alfresco evening with friends. And for even more zing, we’ve added a little lime zest to the salt rim. See method
Ingredients
For the cocktail
- 200ml tequila
- 100ml triple sec
- 100ml freshly squeezed lime juice (3-4 limes)
- large handful ice cubes
For the garnish
- 1 lime, cut into wedges
- 2 tbsp flaked sea salt
If you don't have any limes, try a lemon instead

Method
- Half-fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes. Add the tequila, triple sec and lime juice and shake well for 30 seconds.
- Place the salt in a small, shallow dish and zest in a little of the lime.
- Remove the martini glasses from the freezer. Rub a lime wedge around their rims to moisten and dip into the salt to coat them. Fine strain the margaritas into the glasses and serve immediately with lime wedges.
