Old-fashioned pink lemonade recipe

Kick back on your picnic blanket and sip on a glass of traditional pink lemonade. Made with fresh raspberries, lemons and pink grapefruit, juiced and topped up with sparkling water, this pretty picnic drink is sure to refresh. See method
Ingredients
- 5 raspberries, plus extra to garnish
- 5 tbsp caster sugar, or to taste
- 300ml (1/2pt) freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 6-8 lemons)
- 300ml (1/2pt) freshly squeezed pink grapefruit, juice (about 2-3 grapefruits)
- 1 ltr (1 3/4pt) sparkling water, chilled

Method
- In a small bowl, crush the raspberries with 1/2 tbsp sugar. Set aside.
- Combine the lemon and grapefruit juices in a punch bowl. Add the crushed raspberry mixture, remaining sugar and 200ml (7fl oz) water, stirring until the sugar has dissolved.
- Strain the liquid into a large jug and pour into a transportable bottle; chill for 1 hour, then pack in a cool bag to take to your picnic. To serve, pour the juice into glasses and top up with sparkling water. Garnish with a few extra raspberries.
