Rose and violet are brilliant together in these chocolate drops and make a lovely edible Christmas gift. Sprinkled with stunning violet crystals, these drops can be made up to a week in advance and stored in gift boxes lined with nonstick paper. See method
Ingredients
For the nests
- 100g plain chocolate, broken into pieces
- ½ tsp rose water
- ¼ tsp sunflower oil
- 1-2 tbsp violet crystals

Method
- Put the chocolate into a heatproof bowl set over a pan of shallow, gently simmering water. Stir occasionally, until melted and glossy.
- Remove from the heat and stir in the rose water and sunflower oil. Set aside to cool for 2-3 mins.
- Meanwhile, line 2 baking trays with nonstick baking paper. Using a teaspoon, drop small rounds of chocolate onto the trays. When the rounds are just beginning to set, scatter over the violet crystals. Leave to set in a cool, dry place (but don’t chill).
