Spice up your barbecue with these homemade burgers and their fiery Spanish twist. The patties are prepared using steak mince, grated onion, and egg, then grilled with sliced chorizo. Perfect stuffed into toasted buns with ready-cooked peppers, rocket and spicy paprika mayo. See method
Ingredients
- 1 small onion
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 x 700g pack steak mince
- 1tbsp olive oil
- 6 large slices thin-cut chorizo
- 6 ciabatta rolls or buns
- 2 ready-roasted peppers, thickly sliced
- handful baby leaf and rocket salad
- 6tbsp mayonnaise
- 2tsp smoked paprika
- oven-roasted chips, to serve
If you don't have mince, cut open some sausages instead

Method
- Roughly grate the onion, then mix with the egg and mince. Season. Use your hands to make into 6 thick burgers and rub them with oil. Cook on a hot griddle pan or under the grill for 3-5 minutes until browned. Add the chorizo slices to the pan for the last minute of cooking.
- Toast the buns. Place the burgers on the buns and top with the chorizo, roasted peppers and leaves. Mix the mayonnaise and paprika, spread on the bread, then sandwich together. Serve with chips and grilled tomatoes.
