Ingredients
- 150g fresh wholemeal breadcrumbs
- 800g Rosdene Farms apples, peeled, cored and diced into 1cm pieces
- 75g soft dark brown sugar
- ½tsp ground cinnamon
- 6tbsp water
- 150g (5oz) fresh blackberries
- 50g butter
- 50g oats
If you haven't got any wholemeal bread, try using white instead

Method
Think puddings take too long? Think again! This Apple Brown Betty is ready in just 15 minutes. Apples and blackberries combine with a crunchy oat topping for a lovely, warming autumnal dessert. These are great served in large wine glasses.
- Place the apples, 50g sugar, cinnamon and water in a saucepan. Cover and cook gently for 5 minutes. Add blackberries, and cook for a further 3 minutes.
- Meanwhile, melt the butter with the remaining sugar in a large frying pan and fry the breadcrumbs and oats for 3-4 minutes.
- Spoon half the apples into 4 wine glasses or bowls, spoon over half the breadcrumb mix. Repeat with the remaining mixtures.
- Serve with low-fat crème fraîche.
