Barbecue-baked figs with honey and cinnamon recipe

Figs are given a seasonal twist in this recipe and are baked on the barbecue with honey and cinnamon for a quick, delicious and healthy summer treat. See method
Ingredients
- 8 ripe figs, stems removed
- 3 tbsp clear honey
- 15g salted butter, diced
- ground cinnamon, to sprinkle
- pistachio nuts, roughly chopped, to serve
- ice cream or cream, to serve (optional)

Method
- Cut a deep cross in each fig, being careful to stop just before the base. Gently squeeze the figs at the base to make them open up like a flower. Put into a heatproof dish (an enamel pie dish works great) or a foil tray and drizzle over the honey. Dot the butter over and around the figs, then sprinkle over a little cinnamon.
- Put the dish or foil tray onto the barbecue (away from the direct heat) and close the lid. Cook for 8-10 minutes, until the fruit has softened. Remove from the barbecue and leave to cool a little. Scatter over the pistachio nuts just before serving.
