These burgers are a delightful twist on the classic beef patty, perfect for a quick meal. Fire up the grill and enjoy! See method
Ingredients
- 500g pack 5% lean pork mince
- 1 small carrot, grated
- 1 small eating apple, peeled and grated
- 50g fresh or dried breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce or soy sauce
- 1 medium egg, lightly beaten
- 50g 30% reduced-fat mature cheese, very thinly sliced
- 4 burger buns
- 2 salad tomatoes, sliced
- 50g iceberg lettuce
- 4 tsp burger sauce

Method
- Put the mince, carrot, apple, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce and egg in a bowl and mix well. Divide the mixture in half – wrap half in clingfi lm and chill (see Make it go further). With slightly damp hands, shape the remaining half into 4 burger patties and set aside.
- Preheat the grill to medium. Cook the burgers for 5-6 mins each side until golden and cooked through. Top with the cheese and grill for 1 min more until melted and bubbling.
- Place each burger in a bun with tomato, lettuce and 1 tsp burger sauce to serve.
Make it go further: This recipe makes double the pork mixture. It will keep in the fridge for up to 2 days, or can be frozen.
