A traditional Bloody Mary cocktail is an invigorating tipple – the 'Lifesaver' is said to work wonders after a big night out the day before. The lifesaver is made using fresh tomato juice, Tabasco sauce and vodka for a fiery drink that's sure to kickstart your day. For a delicious Virgin Mary, simply skip the alcohol. See method
Ingredients
- 900ml (1 1/2pts) chilled tomato juice
- 1 tsp Tabasco
- 2 tsp Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce
- 1 level tsp celery salt
- 2 tsp lemon juice
- 300ml (1/2pt) vodka
- ice, to serve
- 6 short sticks celery, to serve, optional

Method
- Mix the tomato juice, Tabasco, Worcestershire sauce, celery salt and lemon juice in a large jug. Cover with clingfilm and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes and up to 4 hours. This will allow the flavours to blend together.
- When ready to serve, put some ice in 6 glasses and add the vodka, then the tomato juice. Stir the cocktail gently and add a celery stick, if you like.
