We've given a classic margarita recipe a new spin: why not add refreshing grapefruit for a citrusy twist on this tequila-based drink. For even more tanginess, we've added salt and grapefruit zest to the rim. See method
Ingredients
- ice cubes
- 100ml tequila
- 100ml Cointreau
- 80ml pink grapefruit juice
- ½ lime, juiced
For the garnish
- 2 tbsp flaky sea salt
- 1 pink grapefruit, zested
- 1 lime, zested and cut into wedges
If you don't have any limes, try a lemon instead

Method
- Half-fill a cocktail shaker (or a clean jam jar with a tight-fitting lid) with ice cubes. Add the tequila, Cointreau, pink grapefruit juice and lime juice. Shake for 20-30 seconds.
- Mix together the salt, grapefruit zest and lime zest on a small shallow plate. Rub a lime wedge around the edge of 2 martini glasses, then dip in the salt mixture to coat the rim of the glass.
- Strain the margaritas into the glasses and serve immediately.
